| Welcome to Equilates. Throughout my riding career, I have been taught to develop myself as a rider in the same systematic, patient, methodical way that we develop our horses as athletes & partners. I've tried many exercise programs and have found that the Pilates method is the best all-round way for riders to develop the strength & flexibility they need for our sport. In my book, A Gymnastic Riding System using Mind, Body & Spirit, I've introduced my sport-specific training program, Equilates. The exercises address the physical requirements of riding from "core strength" and flexibility to alignment & total body control. Developing yourself as an athlete is a great responsibility because you, as the rider, are the leading partner in the dance with your horse!
